On 26 June 2025, a significant moment in Fraser Coast’s medical history was marked with the official renaming of GenesisCare Hervey Bay to the Bryan Burmeister Cancer Centre, in honour of Professor Bryan Burmeister — a nationally respected figure in oncology and a long-time contributor to cancer services in our region.
The Fraser Coast Local Medical Association (FCLMA) was privileged to be invited to this special occasion, with FCLMA President Dr. Ajith Thampi proudly representing the association at the renaming ceremony. The event was heartfelt, well-attended, and a testament to Professor Burmeister’s profound impact on patients, colleagues, and the wider medical community.
